Fun facts and trivia about this blog, because I love these kinds of things. It breathes a little life into the blog. And the fact hogger in me enjoys it.
Titles are hard. The first title was Downtime Diary, because I liked the word downtime. I'm freed from the responsibility of a student and now have time to recharge as a person. I thought it fitted the theme of this break well. Another idea was Half-year [something]. Because, you know, half-year. 6 months. The break is six months long. Except it isn't exactly six months long thus would be somewhat incorrect. I also really liked the phrase carte blanche. Complete freedom to act at one's own wishes. I admit, I'm not selfless. A lot of my thoughts are more self-centered than I'd like them to be. But I never felt like I lived for myself either, so that phrase resonated with me. Except it didn't feel catchy. None of them did. You'd forget the title. I'd forget the title. So I decided on a trademark instead.
Emilia in Latin is Aemilia. It's where the name Emilia was derived actually. And Aemilia came from the word aemulus, which meant to excel. Which is funny to me. Because my primary/secondary school, Austin Heights, has a slogan with the word excel in it: Together we Excel. (Don't mind the colours, I just felt like I was in the mood). So I'd say Together we Emilia. It was funny to me, and I told people close to me about it. I don't think they ever found it as funny as I did. So it's more of a personal inside joke. Anyways, I went off-topic, but that's how my new Instagram username was derived. (@aemulu.saurus if anyone didn't know, but I bet you did because how else did you get here; the 'saurus' came from the fact that I liked dinosaurs). Aemulu would be a cute trademark to go by, so keeping it for this blog makes it personal somehow.
The red was chosen because the HTML code was #e1111a, which looks like my name. But ignore the lack of an m. I didn't know how to replace it. It's also a nice tribute to my school days because I was in the red house.
All throughout ICT, we've been told not to reveal personal information, eg name, location, stuff like that. I guess I'm ignoring that :P
